Client Information

Gold Tree Therapy uses Carepatron's secure cloud-based client system to collect and store contact and clinical information. Carepatron designs and maintains its system in compliance with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and internationally recognised health information standards. Clients have the right to request a copy of their records and to request that changes be made to their records. These will be responded to within 20 working days in accordance with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and Health Information Privacy Code 2020.

As Gold Tree Therapy services may continue or be re-initiated over long periods, client records will be stored securely for lengthy periods, until it is no longer deemed necessary by Gold Tree Therapy and in compliance with New Zealand's Health Information Privacy Code 2020.

Telehealth

Guidance can be provided for clients who are not familiar with the relevant digital systems.

Gold Tree Therapy's online services are provided using Carepatron's telehealth system, or via Zoom. You can access Carepatron's privacy policy here. Zoom's privacy policy can be viewed here.

Communications

Gold Tree Therapy communicates via email. The account goldtreetherapy@gmail.com is private, password-protected, and exclusively accessed by Goldie Hamilton.

Confidential online forms and other resources are shared with clients using Carepatron's secure client system, which clients access using their private password. Carepatron's privacy policy can be viewed here.

Invoices are processed through Hnry, a third-party tax and invoicing service compliant with NZ's Privacy Act 2020. For details, see Hnry's Privacy Policy.

Any information collected through these or other methods will be stored and used in compliance with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and Health Information Privacy Code 2020.

Confidentiality

As a Registered Psychologist with the New Zealand Board of Psychologists, Goldie Hamilton adheres to a stringent professional code of ethics, which includes a commitment to the utmost privacy and confidentiality.

There are very limited instances when a psychologist may be required to share client information:

• New Zealand psychologists are required to engage in regular clinical supervision. This means that your psychologist may discuss with their supervisor some details from your sessions. This would be done in compliance with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and the Code of Ethics for New Zealand psychologists.
• Psychologists may need to disclose key details in the case of a high risk of serious harm to the client or someone else. When possible, this would be done with the client's full involvement and consent.
• In the rare case of a request from the courts to share information disclosed by a client, Gold Tree Therapy would seek professional and legal advice and comply with New Zealand law.

Using online technologies can carry privacy risks. Any internet-based communication is not 100% guaranteed to be secure. At Gold Tree Therapy, we understand and completely respect the need for privacy, and take every reasonable effort to keep information secure and confidential. This includes using systems and procedures that are compliant with New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 and Health Information Privacy Code 2020, and internationally recognised standards.

Clients are provided with a full confidentiality agreement outlining Gold Tree Therapy's policies and procedures.
